Mumbai Police return lost and stolen property worth Rs 1.15 cr to its owners

Mumbai Police on Saturday returned stolen and recovered property worth Rs 1.15 crore to its rightful owners during a special programme held in Eastern Region Zone 3, officials said.

The recovered property included jewellery, vehicles and mobile phones seized or traced during investigations into cases of robbery, burglary, snatching and theft.

The property was recovered through investigations carried out by six police stations — Vikhroli, Parksite, Bhandup, Kanjurmarg, Mulund and Navghar.

Police used technical investigation methods to trace the stolen and missing property and identify those responsible for the crimes.

The recovery covered different types of cases, including robbery, house burglary, chain and mobile phone snatching and other theft-related offences.

Owners receive recovered property

The recovered items were handed back to the complainants during the special programme. Senior police officials were present at the event as the rightful owners received their property.

For the victims, the return of the jewellery, vehicles and mobile phones marked the conclusion of an important part of the recovery process following the registration of their complaints.

The recoveries highlight the role of technical investigation in tracing stolen property and supporting police investigations.

By using technology along with conventional investigative methods, police teams from the six stations were able to track and recover property involved in various offences.

The Mumbai Police's initiative also reflects efforts to ensure that recovered property is returned to victims once the necessary legal and investigative procedures are completed.

Recovered property worth Rs 1.15 crore

The special programme brought together victims and police officials as the recovered property, collectively valued at Rs 1.15 crore, was returned to its owners.

The initiative is expected to strengthen public confidence in the police response to property-related crimes and underline the importance of reporting theft, robbery and snatching incidents promptly, officials said.
