During the demonstration, the legislators chanted slogans including, "The paper leaked in Bhiwandi" and "The money went to Malegaon," alleging that the examination process had been compromised and that the government was responsible for the incident.
Opposition demands accountability
The MVA said the alleged TET paper leak had undermined the credibility of the recruitment process and caused injustice to thousands of teacher aspirants.
The alliance demanded the resignation of the Education Minister, alleging that the government had failed to safeguard the integrity of the examination system. The opposition maintained that its protest was aimed at highlighting what it described as the government's failure to protect the interests of teachers and candidates affected by the alleged paper leak.
Repeated paper leaks have damaged Maharashtra's reputation, says Vijay Wadettiwar
Meanwhile, Congress Legislature Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar on Monday alleged that repeated paper leaks in major examinations, including the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) and the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), have damaged Maharashtra's reputation across the country and jeopardised the future of lakhs of students and teachers.
Opposition seeks discussion on paper leak issue
The issue was raised in the Maharashtra Assembly after the Opposition moved an adjournment motion seeking a discussion on the alleged TET paper leak. Addressing the House, Wadettiwar said repeated examination irregularities have undermined the efforts of students and teachers who spend years preparing for competitive examinations.
He questioned the government's ability to conduct examinations in a transparent and secure manner and asked it to explain why such incidents continue to occur despite previous controversies.
Bhaskar Jadhav, Vijay Wadettiwar seek immediate debate
Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Bhaskar Jadhav and Congress MLA Vijay Wadettiwar of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) raised the issue and sought an immediate discussion on the alleged paper leak. The Speaker rejected the demand but said the issue was serious and that the government should take cognisance of it.
Demand for comprehensive investigation
Wadettiwar called for a thorough investigation into the alleged TET paper leak, saying the probe should cover the agencies responsible for preparing examination papers, the companies involved in conducting the examination process, and the wider network allegedly linked to the racket.
While noting that three accused have been arrested, he claimed that the investigation has revealed links extending to other states. He said the entire network behind the alleged paper leak should be identified and those responsible should face strict legal action.
