Western Railway, while sharing Mumbai local train updates, on Friday said that it will operate a night block between Mahim and Santacruz stations this weekend.
An official statement said that a jumbo block of 3.5 hours will be held from 01:00 hrs to 04:30 hrs during the intervening night of Saturday/Sunday, 04th/05th October, 2025 on up and down slow lines between Mahim and Santacruz stations for maintenance of track, signaling and overhead equipments.
According to a press release issued by Public Relations Department of Western Railway, during the block all down slow line trains will run on down fast lines between Mumbai Central and Santacruz stations.
It said that these trains will not halt at Mahalaxmi, Prabhadevi and Matunga Road stations for want of platform and will take double halt at Lower Parel, Mahim and Khar Road stations due to inadequate platform length. Likewise, up slow line trains will run on up fast line between Santacruz to Mumbai Central/Churchgate. These trains will take double halt at Khar Road station due to inadequate length of platform and will not halt halt at Mahim, Matunga Road, Prabhadevi, Lower Parel and Mahalaxmi stations for want of platform.
Due to the block some up and down suburban trains will remain cancelled, it said.
Passengers are requested to take note of the arrangements, the Western Railway said, adding that there will be no block in day time on Sunday.
Meanwhile, in an another statement, the Western Railway said that the Indian Railways is observing Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 from 1st to 15th October, a two-week cleanliness drive aimed at promoting hygiene, environmental awareness, and public participation across railway stations, offices, workshops, and trains.
As part of this nationwide initiative, Western Railway has launched its own Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign 2025, involving employees, passengers, and local communities in a variety of creative and impactful activities.
The campaign was formally inaugurated by Vivek Kumar Gupta, General Manager of Western Railway, at the WR Headquarters in Churchgate. On the occasion, he administered the Swachhata Pledge, encouraging everyone to commit to cleanliness. Senior railway officials, including Principal Heads of Departments (PHODs), also signed the Swachhata Pledge Board as a symbol of their commitment.
